Default Question about Zealous Renewal

Hello,

I had a question about zealous renewal. For my Derv, when I first get into a fight, between AoHM, Heart of Fury, and ZR I have no energy to use attack skills. And the energy from ZR doesn't come until after the fights a lot of time.

Why do people use ZR as energy management? Am I doing something wrong?

Try using a zealous scythe, 1-3 energy per attack is nothing to scoff at.

Oh I do, but that isn't usually enough. I tend to use Zealous Sweep as well. But I was just wondering on why/how to use ZR.

I had the same problem when I was using it as energy management. I never really found a decent way to use it, so I swapped to lyssa's assault & attackers insight instead.
You might want to try that if you have a few spare points for wind prayers.

Read the skill. The energy only comes AFTER the skill ends. You would NEVER get the energy if you auto-reapply the enchant. 20 sec duration, 15 rech. Be sure to use ench removing attacks to manage it. Say, use it, get a few attacks in, use Twin Sweep thing, and get energy. That's only an example. I must say though, except for Zealous Sweep and a Zealous scythe, dervs don't have too much energy management.

I know it comes at the end. That's one of the reasons I don't like, since as I said in my first post, the energy comes at the end of a lot of fights. And if you rip it off too early, you won't get as much energy. It's like, spend 10 energy to gain 20 in 20 seconds.

I just don't like it cause of the heavy energy investment (along with AoHM, HoF, etc.) at the start of the fight, and the late energy return. I thought maybe I was using it wrong, but guess not. My question has been answered, so may as well close the thread.

Dont use 7 attack skills,

Mind telling us the build you are using? I beleive you are using too many attack skills..

I usually use:

Eremite's
Mystic
Reaper's
asuran scan
Heart of Fury
Zealous Renewal
Aura of Holy Might
Save Yourselves!

The main issue is if I run into battle and use AoHM+HoF+ZR, I have no energy for skills. If the battle lasts a while, I get a return from ZR and the energy regen/zealous mod I can use a few skills, but once the enchants run out I gotta cast them all again, and back to zero energy.

I'm quoting myself from an old thread - I see you understand this, but the more it gets said for other people, the better. 3+1 Wind is more than enough to get the full benefit of Attacker's Insight.

For the record, the only way I would use Zealous Renewal is if I was using self-enchantment removal skills like Twin Moon Sweep or one of the signets (Pious Light, Pious Restraint).

The only reason Zealous Renewal is popular is because people voting on PvX are, for the most part, retarded and want to use it without self-enchantment removal.

My only problem is with Attacker's Insight (at 3+1 Wind Prayers) only lasts for 2 attacks every 15 seconds. But I guess thats 2 attacks for 5 energy every 15 seconds, especially helpful right away after casting AoHM and HoF.

I myself use 12 wind prayers Attacker's insight + Onslaught, works out quite fine.
